# Drafts & posts

> Iterate privately on a draft, then publish a structured record of the finished image.

A **post** turns a finished image into a proper published record — the final
image, the observing story, and the core target metadata together, instead of
scattered across tools.

## Drafts stay private

Drafts hold processing notes, pending metadata, and staging assets so you can
iterate before anything is public:

* **Version notes** — track edits, crop decisions, and processing changes.
* **Metadata review** — target, telescope, camera, location, and acquisition
details stay attached to the draft.
* **Publish handoff** — move the finished image into the public record once the
  story and data are complete.

## What a post carries

> **Target metadata**
>
> Object, type, night, and the equipment behind the capture.

> **Final asset**
>
> The processed image with a generated thumbnail.

> **Story**
>
> Description and processing notes — the part most galleries throw away.

> **Visibility**
>
> Shared only when you publish; private while you iterate.

## Source data stays close

Posts can link back to the [integration set](/workspace/integration-sets) that
produced them, so the raw lights, calibration masters, and the
[rig](/workspace/gear) on that set never drift away from the published image.
